General description of the collection: The Free World Military Assistance papers contain correspondence between Colonel A. L. Hamblen, Jr. and Colonel Robert J. Cook, and a study of the countries that were providing assistance to the Republic of Vietnam. The correspondence is regarding the statistics of various countries that were providing assistance. Includes a booklet published by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) titled Free World Assistance to Vietnam. It is a summary of the economic, technical, social and humanitarian assistance of world countries to Vietnam.

On September 4, 1961 the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 vas signed into law.
